The Bear 3-Minute Express Car Wash is not part of a large conglomerate of hundreds of corporate car washes in our culture today that just “happen” upon a community to increase their own corporate profits from afar and to decrease their corporate tax liability. The Bear 3-Minute Express Car Wash is a locally home-grown, family-owned small business whose owners, Bill and Betty Davis and their children, were born and raised in Cecil County and graduated from the Cecil County Public School System.
Bill earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and worked as a math teacher at Bel Air High School in Harford County prior to working as a manager for Shell Oil Company in Delaware for over 10 years. With the experience he received with Shell, he later decided to become an independent business owner; and with his background in the oil and car wash business, he opened his first Crown Station, Texaco station, and two Shell Oil Company stations complete with gasoline, car wash, convenience store, and deli.
Betty, meanwhile, after having earned a B.S. and M.S. degree in Secondary Education and Business Administration, taught business and English grammar at Edgewood Senior High School, and later taught at Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, Delaware. They both serve on the school board of Tri-State Christian Academy, and Bill serves as President. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Deacons at the Crossroads Bible Church where Betty serves as music director of the contemporary worship team.
With their combined experience in education and business, they opened their first stand-alone car wash in Elkton, MD in 2003 under the trade name of Royal Shine Car Wash that includes a soft-cloth tunnel, a touch free automatic, and four self-serve bay washes. A few years later, they expanded in Bear, Delaware and opened the Bear 3-Minute Express Car Wash in 2009 with the FREE Vacuum concept and RFID readers with the extremely popular Unlimited Wash Club Concept. They renovated the Royal Shine Car Wash in 2010 to the Bear 3-Minute Express Concept with card readers and free vacuum and have found their customers to be very happy with the business model in both Maryland and Delaware.
They offer their customers: (1) Quality Washes; (2) Value for the dollar; (3) Speed; (4) Free Vacuum with every wash; (5) Excellent Customer service, and (6) a bright, clean, aesthetically beautiful appearance that is always well-lit.
Bill and Betty take pride in their community as they strive to give back to the community through donations and fundraising for their local public and private schools, churches, hospitals, athletic teams, and government agencies.
Your vehicle is your second largest investment, and the Davis family is grateful for the trust you place in them as you partner together to wash, clean, and protect that investment for many years to come.
